How to deal with working from Home…
Due to the Pandemic, a lot of us have now been forced into the different environment of working from our homes. It can of course have it’s pros and cons in many ways. Some may be fortunate to have their own private office, whereas there are some of us that have to compete for workspace with family members or housemates. New work environments such as this can actually have a major impact on our health.
What exactly can we do to make this better for ourselves?
Find yourself a nice spot within your house, with decent lighting and preferably the least noise.
Ensure you have somewhere comfortable to be sat, whether that is a desk chair or even if it needs to be your sofa.
Ensure that whatever you are putting your laptop/monitor/iPad on there is enough space between you eyes and the screen for safety it is usually recommended to have about an arms length between yourself and the screen.
Take regular breaks from screen use, including tablets and phones.
Try the 20/20/20 rule to help combat eye fatigue. Focus your gaze on an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes.
Take at least one prolonged break (such as at lunchtime).
Keep a routine.
Create focus times.
Spend 30 minutes or so outside in the daylight or brightly lit indoor area.
Most Importantly, detach at the end of the day, and get enough sleep.
When you ensure to monitor your physical and mental health, some of the possible negative effects of this unprecedented work-at-home experience can definitely be avoided.
